Privacy Policy

Golem privacy policy.

Last updated: June 25, 2026

Golem is an iOS app that helps you guard distracting apps and earn access through movement. This policy explains what the beta app uses and why.

What Golem uses

  • Screen Time permission to let you choose apps, categories, or websites to guard.
  • Camera permission when you use exercise verification.
  • Optional account information when you sign in or sync progress.
  • Basic beta feedback you choose to send by email or TestFlight.

Camera and movement checks

Camera access is used for exercise verification. Golem is designed to process movement checks on-device and does not need your camera footage to provide beta support.

Screen Time data

Golem uses Apple Screen Time and Family Controls APIs so you can select and guard distracting apps. Golem does not ask for social media passwords.

Cloud sync and accounts

If you sign in or use beta sync features, Golem may store profile and progress information needed to keep your account working, such as display name, streaks, lifetime reps, and vault balance.

Analytics, crash reports & third-party services

During beta testing, Golem uses trusted third-party services to power specific features: Supabase (for secure cloud progress backups and authentication), PostHog (for usage analytics and user experience improvements), and Apple (for crash log reports via TestFlight and in-app purchase verification via StoreKit).

To help us understand how users interact with the app and identify confusing UI flows, our analytics provider (PostHog) utilizes Session Replay technology. This feature records screen interactions within the app (such as taps and page views). However, Session Replays NEVER record your camera footage, Apple Screen Time sheets, Apple ID logins, or sensitive StoreKit payment details. All data is used strictly to fix bugs and improve the core product.

Children's privacy

Golem is intended for users who are at least 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that data as soon as possible.

Data deletion

You have full control over your data. You can request deletion of account or beta support data by emailing support@joingolem.pro. You can also delete your account instantly from within the Golem iOS app under Settings.
